Albanian office HM&H reports that, in July 2025, Albanian Parliament has adopted Law no. 52/2025 on Trademarks, introducing substantial reforms to align Albania’s trademark legislation with the European Union framework.
The new law ensures full approximation with Regulation 2017/1001, Directive 2015/2436 and Directive 2004/48, and repeals the relevant provisions of Law no. 9947/2008 on Industrial Property dealing with trademarks. Published in the Official Gazette no. 138 on 1 August 2025, the law will enter into force 15 days after publication.
To implement the new provisions, the Council of Ministers is required to adopt secondary legislation within nine months from the effective date. Until then, the existing rules on procedures, fees and authorized IP attorneys remain applicable.
