What are the most important amendments to the Energy Act for the sector of renewable energy sources? Which novelties bring other laws in the field of environmental protection? What do the amended EU regulations on sustainability reporting mean (Omnibus package)? These are just some of the issues that were discussed at the Energy-legal breakfast organized by the Association of RES Serbia, in cooperation with the associated member, the law firm Drašković Popović & Partners, at the premises of the law firm. Those present were greeted by the organizers, the manager of OIE Serbia, Danijela Isailović and the senior partner in D2P, Uroš Popović, emphasizing the importance of legal certainty for the further development of the sector of renewable energy sources.
Milica Pešterić, a partner at D2P, presented all the important amendments to the Law on Energy, which were adopted at the end of November 2024. Those present were able to get better acquainted with the terms defined by this law, such as active customer, energy community of citizens, as well as other changes and additions to the law that are very important for the entire RES sector. Also, Milica referred to the whole process and results of the first two rounds of auctions, as well as what can be expected at the next auctions.
After a detailed review of the legislation of the Republic of Serbia in the field of energy, Tina Petrić, associate at D2P, presented the new legislation in the field of environmental protection. In addition to the review of international agreements and EU regulations to which the Republic of Serbia has committed itself in this area, Tina also clarified the novelties reflected in the Low Carbon Development Strategy, INEKP, various programs (especially in the area of the circular economy), as well as the Energy Development Strategy until 2040, with projections until 2050.
The event concluded with an overview of the amended EU regulations regarding sustainability reporting, i.e. ESG reporting. At the beginning of the year, the European Commission presented an Omnibus package of measures in an attempt to simplify obligations from EU directives such as CSRD, CSDDD and CBAM.
