Svetlana Trendova, partner at Apostolska Aleksandrovski & Partners, gave an interview for CEE Legal Matters with a brief overview of the current situation in North Macedonia.
She emphasized that the summer slowdown in North Macedonia has not dented interest in the energy sector. „Still, current trends in the overall legal market are focused on the energy sector. Renewable energy continues to be a major focus for the Macedonian government. Recent regulatory actions have been taken in this field, particularly due to the growing popularity of photovoltaic systems.”
Trendova pointed out that the Regulatory Commission for Energy and Water Management has adopted a new by-law for energy supervision, which recently entered into force and should be applied from January 2024. The aim of this act is to cover various aspects of supervision such as operation, separation of ownership, licensing obligations and others.
